Lasik Suitability Evaluation
When you are ready to embark on your journey towards clear vision, the first step of the journey is the lasik suitability evaluation!
This is where you will find out if you are suitable for vision correction surgery, and if so, which types of procedures you are eligible for (TransPRK / SMILE / LASIK / ICL).
It is also the best time to ask us any questions you might have before you take the next step.
EVALUATION FLOW CHART
1 - 2 HOURS
The eye evaluation will take around 1 - 2 hours.
REGISTRATION
Upon arriving at Clearvision, fill in the patient registration form with your particulars, medical history and drug allergies (if any).
EYE TESTS
Next, our optometrists will perform the following eye tests to gain a thorough assessment of your eye condition and help determine if you match the required criteria:
- Orbscan (corneal surface evaluation)
- Auto-refraction (measures your prescription)
- Pentacam (measures your corneal topography)
- Tonometry (measures your eye pressure)
- Lenstar (measures corneal thickness)
- Sirius (measures corneal curvature)
- Subjective Refraction (to find your best corrected visual acuity)
DILATION
Dilating eye drops are then administered to dilate the pupils, which enables the eye doctor to examine the back of your eyes and diagnose any existing eye conditions, e.g. diabetes, retinal detachment, etc.
Your near vision will be blurry and your eyes will be sensitive to sunlight for 6 - 8 hours (some patients experience the blur for longer) - we strongly advise you to bring along a pair of sunglasses, and avoid driving yourself to the appointment!
PRE-LASIK COUNSELLING
Our optometrists will bring you through an informative session on the procedures available to you, as well as post-op expectations. Feel free to raise any questions during this session!
FINAL EYE TEST
After the pupil dilation takes effect, you will need to undergo the auto-refraction test once more.
PAYMENT
Make a payment of S$55 (inclusive of 9% GST) for the evaluation. The balance amount will be made on the surgery day itself. The available payment methods are: Cash, Nets, Credit/Debit cards.
EYE CARE CLINIC
Head over to Mount Elizabeth just next door for your final eye station at Eye Care Clinic.
DOCTOR'S CONSULTATION
Do hand your patient folder to the clinic staff for registration. When the nurses call your name, you can proceed to see the doctor where he will review your test results and personally check on your eye health. The doctor will then decide the best surgery options for you, customised based on your eyes' condition.
SURGERY APPOINTMENT
Book your surgery time slot to secure your preferred timing. The nurse will also share with you the DOs and DONTs of pre-surgery.
REMINDER
If you’re a contact lens wearer, you must STOP wearing them for 3 days for soft contact lens, and 10 days for hard contact lens/ Ortho-K lens prior to your eye evaluation.
