Prescription Must Be Within Certain Limits
To be eligible for LASIK, your myopia prescription should be below 1000 degrees, hyperopia prescription should not exceed 400 degrees, and astigmatism prescription should be within 500 degrees.
Cornea Must Be Thick Enough
Correction of vision with LASIK surgery involves alterations of the cornea curvature via removal of corneal tissue. Therefore, it is only safe to proceed if your cornea is thick enough to accommodate the sculpting process.
At Least 18 Years Old
Patients under 21 years of age will require parental consent to undergo LASIK surgery.
Should Not Have Existing Eye Conditions
Such as:
- Cataract
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic
- Retinopathy
- Retina problems
Not Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Hormonal changes from pregnancy may cause vision to fluctuate, potentially leading to inaccurate measurements.
Degree Must Be Stabilised
There should be no changes in prescription for at least one year prior to surgery.
